Melanie Fiona Interview w/ Gowhere Hip Hop
Melanie Fiona LIVE @ The Shrine, Chicago
Max G. and I had the privilege of attending the 1st stop on the Heineken Red Star Soul Series last night at The Shrine, headlined by Ludacris with other performances by DJ Don Cannon and the subject of our first bit of coverage from the event: Melanie Fiona.
Melanie, fresh off her first live, nationally televised appearance on Jimmy Fallon last night, arrived in Chicago showing no signs of fatigue with a 45 minute set performing her lead single “Give It To Me Right” and other tracks from her upcoming debut album, The Bridge, available everywhere on September 22nd. She has already got a strong stage presence and can sing her heart out with lovely backup singers enhancing the live experience. After the conclusion of her set, we were invited backstage to conduct an in-depth video interview with Melanie Fiona where we discuss everything from the “Give It To Me Right RMXs” f/ Talib Kweli, Busta Rhymes, & Raekwon to her collaborative mixtape with The Roots (downloadable below) and of course what fans can expect from the debut album, The Bridge.
Below, we have some high quality scans from the event, which also provide a glimpse at the rest of our coverage still to come this weekend! Max and I would like to thank Melanie Fiona once again for her time on the interview and the good people behind the scenes at The Shrine who made it all possible. We hope you enjoy the footage above!
